Is there anybody here here? I sure would love to play in a samba band on the playa. I know a little bit of samba, but I'm doing African drumming pretty regularly and could learn my part at home if necessary. Is anyone putting anything together?

Re: Burning Man 2009
Sun, May 24, 2009 - 10:24 PMI heard a rumor that a samba group that plays Maracatu from the northern part of Brazil might be doing the procession.
I might get to go this year for the first time because my school district is cutting 5 days to balance next years budget. It's 2% of my wage more or less but the days MIGHT be at a time for me to go to BRC, so I am looking into the possibility of hooking up with the samba group from the bay area. I'll post again here if I hear more.
See if you can download a song from NationBeat or MaracatuNewYork to hear the kind of rhythm it is. -

Re: Burning Man 2009
Mon, August 3, 2009 - 9:43 PMJust an update-- I don't think the Lucha folks are on this list but I heard the news... no BateriaLucha in the procession / on the playa. We hope they make it out some year. (If I'm wrong and they changed their minds, please let me know Luchistas!)
No Loyd Family Players either.
Hmph.
Anyone who finds their way to this page and is hoping to express their inner Brazilian percussionist on the playa this year, please contact me directly...
Loyd orphan (or two) in da house, looking to make a loud noise for the people!
